The game is stable and it runs well, and #2. The only reason I am not giving this a 2 is that #1. Especially if you are not making any major improvements to the game. I know they argue this is a niche audience, but your pricing may be driving your product to be niche. Matrix is asking for $40 US for a game that is basically a mod/expansion pack. Sometimes the AI does mount at attack with 2-3 squads of soldiers and a tank to support, but that situation is rare and I believe it is a stroke of luck. The AI cannot lay down a competent defence using terrain to its advantage, nor can it mount a competent offence with combined arms. The AI relies too much on mortar fire (Sometimes having 3-4 squads of mortars). It cannot handle combined arms, despite all of the statements to the contrary by the developers/modders. The problem is that the AI is still horrid.

Gateway to Caen is no exception, its background is set at Operation Epsom, an british offensive that took place between 26-30 June 1944, during the Battle of Normandy. Find a competent opponent in the multiplayer lobby, and play a grand campaign, you will find that Close Combat is THE best tactical war game franchise ever made. The AI, I hav to acknowledge, is still as suck as the previous versions, but Close Combat is never a game to play alone. GTC is very similar to the last CC game, Panthers in the fog, you can even say it is like an expansion of PITF, but the improvement is obvious: the explosion of the tanks, artillery shells and airstrike is so realistic, it is almost like watching a war movie. Gateway to Caen is the 7th installment of Close Combat Series, and is also the last close combat game using a 2D engine: the next Close Combat Gateway to Caen is the 7th installment of Close Combat Series, and is also the last close combat game using a 2D engine: the next Close Combat game, "The Big Red One" will be the first CC with a 3D engine.
